Leyte SMEs have been invited to promote local products at the Mega Christmas Expo 2006 at the SM Megamall Trade Hall 2 on December 15 – 17, 2006.

This was learned from Cooperative Development Authority Director Pedro Balundo who revealed that the Mega Christmas Expo 2006 is a Christmas shopping and promo event which is being organized by the EX-Link Management and Marketing Services Corporation with the Cooperative Development Authority as one of the support organizations to promote the event.

Aptly called as Gawang Pinoy Christmas Bonanza Sale at Mega Christmas Expo 2006, the SMEs in the province of Leyte and all over the Philippines will have a venue to promote the local products and to find for markets and business partners.

The Region abounds in rare and beautiful products made out of indigenous materials, some of which are found only in Eastern Visayas, Director Balundo said. The problem is that the producers of these products are not given the chance to market these products to the right investors.

Director Balundo said that the Expo is a very good opportunity to the local producers as it is really in December when people go on a shopping spree to look for gifts for their relatives and friends and for themselves, too. Director Balundo added that in order to be given a booth in the Expo, the producer must pay a 50% down payment to the booth rental which is P12,000.00 for the corner booth and P9,000 for the side booth.

For those who are interested to join the Expo, Director Balundo said that Registration Forms are available at the Cooperative Development Authority in the Region along Real St., Tacloban City. For the producers who were given invitations directly, Director Balundo is requesting that they call up the CDA office for monitoring purposes.
