A get into the Christmas Spirit urging
A Queenstown, New Zealand businesswoman is urging local businesses and residents to get into the Christmas spirit by organizing a Christmas to remember.
Ali Thompson from Encore Queenstown has been disappointed by Queenstown’s lack of involvement in the festive season in previous years. So this year she is preparing to do something about it, Encore Queenstown and the QLDC have joined forces to create a Christmas to remember.
She is organizing a Christmas competition for the best decorated homes and businesses, a community concert at Earnslaw Park, and to cap it all off, Queenstown’s first ever black tie Christmas Ball.
Queenstown companies supporting the Christmas festivities include naming sponsor Browns Sotheby’s International Realty, Destination Queenstown, the Queenstown Chamber of Commerce and Radioworks.
The ‘Get into the Spirit Christmas Competition’ will run from November 16 to December 7 where a range of prizes are up for grabs for the best decorated homes and businesses in Queenstown. Members of the public will be invited to judge the winners after entrants are listed on the Radio Works web site.
On Friday December 8 a Queenstown Star of Christmas Community Concert, organized by the QLDC, will be held between 5.30pm and 7.30pm in Earnslaw Park. This will include live and local entertainment with a family orientated feel. The winners of the Christmas competition will be announced, plus Santa will be making a grand entrance.
Then on Saturday December 9 the highlight event will be the Browns Sotheby’s International Realty Christmas Ball at the Memorial Hall. Throughout the night there will be fun charity auctions with Michael Boulgaris supporting The Salvation Army. Tickets are $70 per person with tables of 8 and 10 available for $65 per person. Balcony seating is available for smaller groups.
