Soak up the festive spirit at a Christmas market

Across Europe many of its most beautiful cities light up during late November and December with their annual Christmas markets. A tradition that stems back centuries it is a lovely time to visit to stock up on unusual gifts, soak up the festive atmosphere and enjoy a glass of mulled wine.

History comes alive in the medieval cobbled streets and squares of Prague. The Christmas markets are held in the picturesque Wenceslas & Old Town Square from 28 November until 6 January and are a great place to pick up some unusual gifts.

FRANKFURT FROM £157
The Christmas market in Frankfurt is one of the most famous in Germany and is held in the old part of town that dates back to the 14th century. Specialities include almond cookies, marzipan ball cookies and prune figures as well as many local arts and crafts.

Fly from Heathrow with Lufthansa and spend two-nights at the 3* Kaiserhof Hotel on a bed and breakfast basis from £157 per person. This is for travel from 23 November to 19 December and based on two people sharing.
