Your kids won’t have to wait ’til midnight, and neither will you.

Legoland’s family-friendly party gets started at 3 p.m. in the park’s Festival Center. Kids can dance in the streets with the park’s characters, share their New Year’s resolutions and check out all the cool Legoland stuff.

Entertainment includes music, dancing, percussion ensemble Jr Crew and more. When midnight rolls around in Legoland time, that’s 6 p.m. to outside folk, ring in the New Year with a 22-foot-tall LEGO “Brick Drop,” a spectacular fireworks show complete with special fireworks viewing glasses and everyone singing along to “Auld Lang Syne.”

This year’s celebration honors a group of special heroes in our community, the Big Brothers Big Sisters of San Diego. More than 400 mentors have been invited to bring their little brothers and sisters to the Park for a day of carefree fun and to share their goals for the New Year.

This event is a treat for kids, but maybe even a bigger treat for parents. Think about it. The little ones will be exhausted after all the revelry, and tired-but-not-downtrodden mom and dad will have a few quiet hours to celebrate before their midnight kiss.

Legoland opens at 10 a.m., and the New Year festivities are included with regular admission price. Tickets: Adult $57, children (3-12) and seniors (60+) $44. Children (0-2) are free. Legoland California in Carlsbad, one of only four Legoland parks in the world, gives kids ages 2 to 12 a “hands-on” experience like few others.
