This week’s highlight

TARPON SPRINGS > This picturesque city celebrates its roots, the community was founded by Greek sponge divers and their families at the turn of the 20th century, during the annual Epiphany Celebration on Saturday.

The event has as its centerpiece a morning service at the St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Cathedral. The service is followed by a procession to Spring Bayou, where young men dive for the cross (the retriever is believed to receive blessings during the ensuing year), and releasing a white dove of peace.

Other festivities include Greek dancing, music and food … anyone for baklava?

St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Cathedral is at 36 N. Pinellas Ave. For more details, call 727-937-3540 or visit
