Bulgarian bishop Tihon, who is head of the Orthodox church for Western Europe, blessed the waters of the famous Fontana di Trevi in Rome.

January 6 is celebrated each year as Epiphany day when John the Baptist baptized Jesus in the river of Jordan and the Holy Spirit came to Him as a white dove.

On a day when the Orthodox church commemorates St Jordan and the Catholic marks the Epiphany, hundreds of tourists gathered around the fountain to watch the mysterious ritual of the Bulgarian bishop.
